Merlyn G. Cook School, Merizo

This existing structure located in Merizo dates back to 1941. It stands on the site of a former U.S. Naval radio station. When the radio facility was moved from Merizo to Nimitz Hill, the original building was concerted to a school and dedicated as the Merlyn g. Cook School in 1931. The structure was destroyed by a typhoon in November 1940, but was rebuilt in July 1941 by the villagers of Merizo. It is listed in both the Guam and National Registers of Historic Places. Rehabilitation was completed in 1997 and is currently used as the village youth center.
