St. Joseph Catholic Church, Inarajan St. Joseph Church in Inarajan was completed in 1940, built entirely by the parishioners of Inarajan. It houses the remains of Fr. Jesus Baza Duenas, Guam’s local martyr executed by the Japanese 9 days before the Americans re-occupied Guam in 1944. The church was damaged by World War II, several typhoons and suffered major structural failure during the 1993 earthquake. Among some of the obstacles encountered during the construction was the placement of an entirely new foundation under the church walls, a new roof, the refurbishing of the stained glass windows and the reconstruction of the steeple and bell tower. St. Joseph Church was completed and re-dedicated in October 1996.
